Terms of Use

HeyCaption is licensed to you under our License Agreement. In short, you may use it on 1 Mac you own or control, for personal or commercial work. These terms add to that agreement.

• Free trial. You can caption up to 3 videos without buying a license. After that, a Pro or Lifetime license is needed to keep captioning.
• Pro. A yearly subscription that unlocks all Pro features. It renews automatically each year until you cancel, and stays active until the end of the paid year.
• Lifetime. A one-time purchase that unlocks Pro features and all future updates for the life of the product, with no renewals.

Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record, which also handles sales tax and VAT. Prices are shown at checkout before you pay. You can get a full refund within 7 days of purchase, no questions asked: see our Refund Policy.

You own your videos, transcripts and captions. Because HeyCaption processes everything on your Mac, we never receive or access your content. You're responsible for having the rights to the media you caption and publish.

• Don't reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it.
• Don't try to bypass plan limits or licensing.
• Don't use HeyCaption to break the law or infringe anyone else's rights.

Captions are generated automatically. Accuracy depends on audio quality, accents and background noise, and mistakes can happen. Please review captions before publishing, especially where accuracy matters, such as accessibility, legal or medical content.

We improve HeyCaption over time. Features described as “coming soon” are plans, not promises, and may change. We may update, change or retire features, and will try to give notice of significant changes.

HeyCaption is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

To the extent the law allows, HeyCaption is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for HeyCaption in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

You can stop using HeyCaption at any time. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, we may suspend or end your access to paid features.

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we'll give notice on this website before they take effect. Continuing to use HeyCaption means you accept the updated terms.
